Varian’s horror begins with what happens to him, but the deeper unease seems to come afterward, when he returns home and realizes that his relationships may not be what he thought they were. I also like the contrast in your author bio: a self-described couch potato writing gritty love stories and giving questionable characters second chances. That combination suggests you’re interested in people who are rarely as simple as they first appear.
