Other skeptics also differ from parapsychological interpretations. The chemical analysis carried out by the Institute of Ceramics and Glass (ICV) on samples of two faces of Bélmez has been mentioned. In his evaluation of the case for an article in the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research of July 1993, Luis Ruiz Noguez believes that the ICV analysis should highlight the presence of three cations that are used as pigments in the manufacture of paints: Zinc, lead and chromium [21]
On the other hand, there are several objections to the hypothesis of using paint in the Bélmez affair: (1) Alkalid type enamels do not resist abrasion. (2) The paint leaves a film that can be easily differentiated from the substrate. (3) Alkydals do not have good chemical resistance to acids, alkalis or detergents.
