@WaCa4ever Basically I just took little bits of bunches of other people’s writing styles until it became my own. (But I took tiny enough bits from enough different people that it didn’t resemble any single one and it wasn’t “copying”, making it unique to me)
I also look into the dynamics of the actual characters/people and how they interact with each other to make it seem more raw and natural (ie. exdee being a service top, because of his tendency to give George whatever he wants, and George primarily being a brat when with Sapnap because of how he acts in real life)
When it comes to dialogue, I like to try reading out every line in their voice/accent to test if it seems like something they would say. If it’s something I can easily imagine/hear being said in their voice, then I keep it in, and if I can’t then I scrap or rewrite the line. This helps keep the dialogue accurate and in character (because it’s one of my pet peeves when the dialogue is super out of character)
I do my best to stay away from those “fanfiction language” as I like to call it. I avoid them like the plague. Like I would not be caught DEAD using the word “member” in a fanfic. It might make me seem blunt, but honestly I usually just use the word dick, cock, ass, etc. it’s less weird to me than the alternatives people use. And if the writing for that particular fic is too elegant for words like that, I usually avoid the word altogether.
Anyways there’s some tips, and it never occurred to me until just now how much thought I put into writing this stuff, especially considering the fact that I’m literally not even attracted to men
But thank you so much I’m really glad you like my works!! (Especially the exdee ones, he’s one of my favorite characters to write about lmao)
Oh shit I really infodumped did I that wasn’t supposed to be this long-
