Hello BCG. Actually, you have heard wrong because Christianity is NOT rare in India! There are MANY places with a Christian population and there are many churches in towns, cities and even villages in India. For instance, in Shanti Ashram where I stayed for 7 years, half the school children were Christians. When I visited a church in the small hill station of Kotagiri, I went to a church on Sunday that was packed with local Tamils. Many Christians in India are descendants of lower-caste Indians who were converted, being promised a religion that did not acknowledge a caste system.
