Sorry for such a long response I have big ideas for your book and I would love to share them with you

What if you made it where David has cancer but has to hide it from everyone, but then Liza finds out and helps him keep it a secret, and by then they are dating but they play it smooth so nobody figures out, David also should be able to take chemotherapy but has a panic attack so now Liza and David are stressed because of health issues, Corina has to have her baby after David takes chemo for a while, he also has to become weak from his chemotherapy, because that is what chemotherapy does to people
