Hi there, this is Olivia Worre with Dermaseli. I’m on a team that’s been reviewing Wattpad stories in your genre. Over the last three months we’ve flagged a few new patterns, and two of them stood out when I saw your latest story. I’d like to run a quick question by you — since you’re the only one who can answer it. You can reply here or email me at lawalwrs@gmail.com
. I’ll be checking messages later this afternoon until around 3:30 pm EDT.

@Dj_why That’s interesting. A lot of writers say something similar — but I’m curious: if you knew for sure that adjusting your first few paragraphs could keep readers hooked longer, would you want to see how other writers are tackling it?

@OlivaWorre_ I might change some details at worst or change the way the events are written but I would actually change the story or narrative. Unless there are unintended plot holes

@Dj_why That makes sense — taste definitely plays a big role. The reason I asked is because a lot of readers decide within the first 20–30 seconds whether to keep scrolling or click away. I’ve been curious to hear how writers like you approach that challenge. Do you usually tweak your openings after feedback, or do you stick with your original draft?
