1 do absolutely no research at all on neither side. The best way to show your smart is to have no knowledge or incorrect information about the subject. I mean what's the likelihood someone else knows about the characters in question?
2. If your character has different versions of the same character( examples: comic characters, video games like legend of zelda) just combine the feats and abilities they have cuz different continuities don't matter.
3. And this is for you fans of sonic, dragon ball, and any anime with a light novel series. If your losing the argument be triple sure to pull out the stronger version ( dbz= xenoverse sonic= Archie but not anymore . And light novel) and say how they won't be beat by the other characters mentioned in the debate.
And finally 4. If your back is against the wall just remember to call all who don't agree with you a meatrider or glazer. No one can do anything about it.

@HorrorUnited2 ok so first things first would be if you making it a crossover be sure to do so with something appropriate for the character or could work for them. For example I'll use my dxd: Strawberry Death book as a example. Given the supernatural world and mostly unknown nature of most races I had a feeling ichigo and the soul reapers could work in that world. For a case like riddler I'd suggest either my hero academia as he could be written as a good foil to a character like deku. Or rwby so long as ot remains early seasons he could work well for the batman riddler was written like the zodiac killer. (He could be a way to reveal the dark side of huntsman. After a thing I suggest to my friends is to usually as you write play out how you want the chapter to go in your head. Like a movie it can really help you write it with a sense of passion when you think about the book like your making a TV show just for your followers. 3rd off don't be afraid to do things different from others . Your not always gonna make people happy so just be sure to write things the way YOU yourself would be satisfied with. Even if it means writing something out of the usual books. And finally listen to music you like that can fit the vibe ya wanna give off. It can help ya write alot better always helps for me

@ReCode097 yeah sorry I've been just swamped from work and dealing with some stress from it and some irl things I'm working out I'm sorry that it's been the way it has here but I'm gonna be changing that hopefully soon.
