If some things seem to blend the realms of reality with those of planes of experience uncommon to the human existence, know that in reality there is no much distance between the two.

There lies in our souls an abyss that we mostly avoid or are too scared to approach.

Willingly exploring through the use of imagination those depths, a door is opened.
Sometimes something from the other side of that door calls our attention as an insistent cry to the rescue. The urge is just too strong and we must go below the cristal waters of the surface, to find that door and release what's kept behind.
Once the door is opened, what flows is an unbearable desire which fills the mind with feelings and visions of things that go above and below human comprehension. That is, some visions are higher than what we can possible conceive. Some other things, are so low and ancient that we can't understand them, for our minds have long forgotten the means to interpret them.
