This is an actual example of scolding someone, and I will die on this hill.

I'm bringing this up, because a lot of books portray this incorrectly, as presented in The Dating plan by Sarah Desai:

He was in a savage mood. “No wonder the company is going under.”
“Be nice,” Daisy scolded. “It’s not his fault.”
