"The first girl I ever kissed waited beside a river of fire.
And so did the thing that came to collect its debt."
          	- Another chapter of Aether is finally published.

As always thank you so much for reading. And yes we finally get to the longing, the angst and the kiss.

@LemonLoaf Sorry buddy I don't have the time to commit in good faith to it at the moment. Otherwise I would.

@DotVVarlock Would you like to submit your story to the last slot in the goldenrod awards? I think you could do well in the awards.

I have maybe finally come up with a real title for my book. Aether is really just a place holder and refers to the name of the world. Which funny enough was also a placeholder until it got used so often it stuck.

Any way what are the thoughts and feelings on "Echo beneath the wodei"?

DotVVarlock

@SL-Writes ah yeah that's good to know. I've gone back and forth on the cover quite a bit. It does need to be updated at some point for sure.

One small thought, though: it might be worth experimenting with a cover image that’s a little more connected to the story itself. You can't find a lot of good images on Pinterest. :)

That’s a nice option. Though I do really like Ather. I think it’s quite Wattpad-friendly, and it has a lovely ring to it. ☺️

The Wode does not forget. It hungers. And somewhere beneath its roots, something has begun to wake.

Camilla survived the destruction of her home, but survival has a way of changing a person. Now hunted by the Emperor’s living writs and haunted by the thing that speaks from the blade at her side, she is dragged deeper into a world of ancient gates, starving forests, and old powers that refuse to stay buried.

In the hidden refuge known as Sanctuary, whispers of war spread like rot through the dark. The Children stir beneath the trees. The dead walk wearing borrowed flesh. Storms gather over kingdoms already breaking apart. And within Camilla, something wild is learning her name.

To survive, she will have to become more than what the world made her.

Even if it leaves nothing human behind.

          ~Aether~ is still ongoing

She lets the crowd take her.
Lets the press of bodies carry her forward, dissolve her into something smaller, something unseen.

There is warmth here. Movement. Voices layered over one another without meaning. A place where people belong to one another without question.

She remembers what that felt like.
          Or thinks she does.

          But something moves beneath it.
Something that does not belong to the living pulse of the city.

          A shift. A stillness.

And when it comes, it does not come from the dark.

          It steps into the open.

          - Another chapter in Aether is live. As always thank you so much for reading.

The crowd presses in, alive and indifferent, a river of bodies that both hides and reveals. Somewhere in the midst of it, eyes find you, intentions unfurl, and the weight of what waits beneath your skin claws upward. Shadows move with purpose; a wolf waits in a cage, hunger coiled and patient. The city hums, urgent and dangerous, carrying whispers of power, choices, and inevitable collision. You can’t stop, can’t look away you can only survive.

          A new chapter for Aether.

DotVVarlock

Hey friends Aether is still slowly being written. I accidentally became important at work for a moment and it's not leaving a ton of brain space or energy left at the end of the day.

pxythrn

I feel that! Take your time. Hopefully work calms down for you soon and you get to rest.

Camilla reaches Harrowynd at last, a city alive with strangers, lanterns, and watchful eyes. Kindness is offered, information begins to surface, and for a brief moment she glimpses what an ordinary life might feel like. But Echo’s influence is growing, and not everything she loses is taken in battle.

The next chapter of Aether is out.
