Hello hope your doing well.
Janak012
Hi! I have a question.
So, uh, I really love your fic, and I love the worldbuilding, and I was wondering if I could base my fic's multiverse system off of your plane system, because it gave me a few great ideas. (With proper credit of course.) Also I just absolutely love your writing and wanted to say how great it is :D (Next chapter pls? If you have any ideas?)
Dragon_H3art
@Janak012 Oh, go right ahead! I always love hearing that people enjoyed/were inspired by my worldbuilding! And the next chapter, hmm? :)

I think I heard somewhere that Wattpad chapters only let you go to 200? Aren't you at like 190 or something for The Chained Watcher??!
NightinLark
@Dragon_H3art I'd believe you simply because I know how it goes... the plot drags you through rivers and woods until you get somewhere xD

@NightinLark Trust me, I find it hard to believe too. Would you believe me if I said that this was originally just going to be a bit of worldbuilding to let me write snippets in this universe?

@Dragon_H3art insane to me how motivated you've stayed, I'm barely 10k into my story lol

Saw you read "Road to Somewhere," hope you enjoyed!
NightinLark
@Dragon_H3art thank you, I have planned nothing (that's my next step) so I'm glad it works xD

@NightinLark Seems pretty cool so far! I'm not too good at providing spontaneous feedback, but what I've read of it comes across as having some interesting worldbuilding, and the characters feel good too. Good luck on brain braining!

Out of curiousity, have you seen "Searching for a world that doesn't exist" yet? I dunno why but I feel like yiu would really enjoy it
Dragon_H3art
Yup! The sequel is on my Watch Later list for when I find a couple hours to watch it.

Hi! Hope you're doing okay!
Dragon_H3art
Oop- Yeah, I'm alive! I might've started reading stuff on AO3 and gotten dragged down under a pile of Watcher Grian fics (like I knew I would), so I haven't been posting due to spending most of my free time reading. Whoops!

The reason grian is not good with redstone is because he’s a boomer
Think about it he is old and can’t operate technology
NightinLark
(I'm back yay) Watching the percy jackson series again with the perspective of bored immortals looking down on hopeful heroes that your story has introduced me to is honestly amazing lol
NightinLark
Random thing, I'm doing an assignment on what makes a good character. You sure write some good ones, so what would you say?
NightinLark
@Dragon_H3art wow, this is amazing! It also reminds me I need to write... Ah, I'll get to it!

Aaaaaaand I just realized you weren't asking for a "How to", you were asking for more of an analysis.
A good character maintains internal consistency, no matter how inconsistent they may appear externally. That's not to say they won't grow and change, because being externally unchanging is generally not ideal unless deliberate, but someone who likes dogs won't suddenly decide to punt a puppy out of the blue.
A good character also exists as more than a one-note cutout. Nothing says they can't lean into it, but someone who enjoys being a cartoonish villain with weird nonsensical schemes can have a life outside of their theatrical villainy. Even if we never see their personal life, something as simple as bantering with their nemesis and saying "Why go after this corporation's building? Oh come now, I'm not so barbaric as to target a residential area, not like (fellow villain)." They don't need to break character to display something deeper than their first impression.
And though it may seem a bit counterintuitive considering I've been focusing on letting the characters be people... Sometimes you just really need this one specific niche filled, and the character made for that is pretty much cookie-cuttered for their role. And that's okay! It's perfectly understandable for an obscure side character to not have the same level of detail and care put into them that a more prominent character does. They do what they need to do, and they don't linger long enough to need to be anything more.
Oh, also, a "good" villain doesn't need to be sympathizable to be a good character (looking at you, Thanos). People can be good. People can be bad. It's a slider, not a switch. And sometimes, they really are just unlikable people. The kind of person you would loathe IRL. And you know why that's perfectly fine? Because they're a character, not a real person. The very same thing that would disgust you in a real person makes the character more interesting, more fascinating.
