hey y'all
I'm going to enter my story, The Mayor's Son, into the Wattys and have just finished my summery. Let me tell you, trying to fit well over 200 pages into 500 words, was harder than it seems. Here's some parts of it bc they won't let me post the entire thing.
Oh to be a 1700s sailor loading supplies from the dock onto my employer ship, ignoring the Mayor’s son eyeing me in a truly sinful way.
Lance De Conto is more interested in sewage than in Princeton Boone, the spoiled rich kid living off the taxes of the Bounta town folks.
A stranger from unknown territories, Lance is rejected by almost everyone but he can’t take no for an answer. This town is the last before the great mountain which separated the lands. Luckily, a ship captain is quick to recognize the young man’s potential. Captain Nickolas, intelligent, compassionate and skillful, sets out to assist Lance with the help of his two ship mates. But he’s not the only one who is interested in Lance. Soltas, an infamous pirate with a cutthroat crew of misfits, gets to him first. Determined not to let Soltas have everything he wants, Nick strikes up a deal that’ll quite possibly change everything when the time comes.
Lance has finally found his crew but he can’t help but be cautious. Believed to bring terrible luck to whoever hires him, Lance takes extra precautions to keep captain Nick’s crew free from harm.
......
Then, after a night of festivities, a love confession, a passionate kiss and a disappearance into the night. Lance and Prince, connected by fate, are questioning everything and some things that once seemed set in stone, become debateable. But they do know one thing, captain Nick’s crew is leaving very soon and it’s a question whether Lance De Conto will be on the ship, or if he’ll stay in Bounta with Prince. A mission sought out his entire life, or a boy he met months ago? Love or passion?
