E.L. McAuley (Elouise to most people and Lou to her friends) is, in her own words, a hybrid of sexual freak and hopeless romantic. She has always loved romance novels and is a self-confessed book nerd but the books got racier as the years moved on. Eventually, she gave up pretending that romance was the aim of her reading and chose her reading material honestly. Now, she uses that same honesty in her writing.

Elouise is very much an outdoor type of person and, when she hasn't got a book in her hand (and sometimes when she has), she will be found walking on the beaches and in the open countryside of her native Kent. 

She spent twenty years teaching before returning to University to complete her MA in Creative Writing. She now spends her days and nights reading and writing. She does, however, admit that she particularly loves researching her stories!

She describes herself as an extroverted introvert and states that she prefers her own company 99% of the time and lives with her son and her pet cat.
