As ONC 2026 comes to an end (in terms of submission, at least), I look back at the person I was before I joined with jealousy.
She was a lot more confident than she is now.
This isn't to say I didn't enjoy writing my entry for the contest- I did, but it was a completely different style from my usual, and it took a lot of effort to stick to the upper word limit.
But no matter- it's done now, submitted and ready for critique.
Regardless of the outcome, it was a generous learning experience. I'll probably stick to overly wordy third person limited POVs for now, but I do look forward to the next time I decide to experiment with fast-paced first person POV... In the distant future perhaps.
With that being said, if you choose to check out A Soul Etched in Flame now that it's complete (for now?), please do let me know what you truly think- I am in desperate need of (constructive) criticism.
As always, I am forever grateful to everyone who checks out my stories, even silent readers- I myself was one, after all.
Thank you for reading!
