I teach (& research) ancient civilizations, then write stories & articles inspired by all eras of history. My nonfiction articles have been published by Tor.com, Worldbuilding Magazine, and the SFWA blog. I share short fiction (flash and micro) directly to fans subscribed to my newsletter, alongside nonfiction essays illuminating the obscure history and science behind each piece. 

In my free time, I help sort submissions for the pro-rate scifi/fantasy magazine Diabolical Plots, maintain a very practical garden, and enjoy programmatically-generated storytelling engines (aka video games).
