I try not to get political on here, to respect others' opinions, but here we go.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO PROTEST ICE AND THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TOMORROW:
First of all, hell yes go protest for human rights and anti-racism!!
Second of all, think about the way you are going to do it. If you are writing a letter to someone in the government, YES. If you are going to a rally to raise your voice for our rights, YES. If you are not going on social media or making any purchases, YES. If you are skipping school, please think about that. ↓
What makes me more mad than anything is when I see someone taking advantage of another's circumstance. People in our country are being stopped on the street and being forced to show their passports, and being taken away (even if they had passports), children that my mom works with aren't coming to the hospital because they are afraid they're going to get deported. PLEASE, protest this and put a stop to it, but do it with the intent to make change.
I overheard some people talking today,
"Will you skip school with me tomorrow?"
"Yeah, sure! Why?"
"Oh, some ICE protest."
DON'T be that kind of person. If you skip school, skip school and spend the day writing your letter to the government, skip school and go to a protest nearby. Don't skip school just to get out of school. Skip school to protest.
Now, tomorrow, when we show our pride and strength, when we stand up against the tyrannical government and scream for human rights and no ICE, do it powerfully, proudly, and thoughtfully.
I'll leave you with a quote that you've probably seen, but is just too good not to repeat:
"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty"
Let's resist together, the right way.
