My first thought in my head when I woke up that stifling hot morning was Oh great another school year. Even though I was a junior and had been at Palatul de Sange high school for three years, I only had two friends. Tyler and Angela. My parents died in a car crash after telling me the life changing news that I was a vampire. I was sent to live with my father's work friend Clyde Soare, his wife Sabine, and his daughter Angela. They were all vampires, and that's why they were chosen to be my guardians, at least until I was eighteen.
Angela and I are polar opposites, but somehow we became best friends. Angela is the perfect golden girl, a golden tan with striking gold eyes and waist length, wavy, corn colored hair. She is a short five foot four inches with curves in all the right places. Ang is the center of attention, that girl who everyone loves, and no one can hate. She is that girl all the guys hit on and that girl who can't help but be nice to everyone. Now compare that to my almost black pixie cut hair, pale skin, and bright red lips and you will understand why I'm the shy girl most people don't know. I'm way taller than Ang at five feet eight inches, and plain in just about every way you can imagine. The only unusual thing about me is my eyes. They are a dark gray blue in the middle and a dark green on the outside surrounded in a thick smoky black ring.
I slowly flip the covers off me and laboriously force my body to stand upright. I trudge over to my walk-in closet and reach for the monotonous school uniform. It consist of a plaid pleated skirt, white blouse, and blue blazer. All students, regardless of gender are required to wear a tie and I choose a blood red one. I step into the hallway on the third floor that connects my room, Angela's room, and the bathroom we share. I tiptoe past the bathroom towards the staircase praying that Angela doesn't see me while she's in there preparing for school. Unfortunately, I fail my mission.
