Hello, my dear readers.
Today, on this solemn 26th of April, 2025, we gather in spirit as our beloved Pope Francis is laid to rest. With this message, I want to express my deepest respect, gratitude, and appreciation for everything he has done for us.
Pope Francis was a light in the world — a man who led with kindness, compassion, and open arms. He accepted everyone, no matter who they were or where they came from. He defended the rights of all people and courageously stood up for love and acceptance, including support for the LGBTQIA+ community. He reminded us that every life is precious, that every person is worthy of love, and that each of us is embraced by God’s endless grace.
Even though I do not consider myself a religious person, I feel immense appreciation for everything Pope Francis stood for. His message of hope, inclusion, and love touched my heart, and the hearts of so many others around the world.
When I first heard the news on the 21st of April — that Pope Francis had passed away just a few hours earlier — I couldn't hold back my tears. Today, as I sit quietly in front of the TV, watching his burial ceremony unfold live, I feel a strange, beautiful comfort.
I know he is watching us from above — just as all those who have left this world are still with us. They are here, in our hearts, in the love we carry forward, in the lives we touch. Pope Francis may have left this earth, but his spirit, his kindness, and his message will live on forever.
May he rest in peace.
Thank you, Pope Francis. You will never be forgotten.
Elizabeth
