The Ambys Award has officially come to an end.

I won’t lie...I was a little disappointed that I didn’t make it in. But when I really sit with it, I realise this was the very first book I ever wrote. A story that lived in my head for a long time, and one that I finally had the courage to put into words. And honestly? The fact that it made it to Round 3 still amazes me.

Entering wasn’t just about prizes or awards. Along the way, it helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. It pushed me to build a habit of thinking, writing, and reflecting. It became a space for my own personal thoughts, emotions, and quiet conversations with myself. I learned discipline, patience, and how to keep going even when doubt crept in. Most importantly, it reminded me that creating something is already a win.

With this growth, I’m actually feeling more excited than discouraged. I’m looking forward to future opportunities, especially the recently opened ONC Open Novella Contest (IN PROGRESS!!). I don’t know where it’ll lead, but I’m curious to see how much more I can grow through it.

Congratulations to all the Ambys Award winners!! Yoiur hard work truly deserves to be celebrated. And to everyone who participated, showed up, and shared their stories, you are AMAZING!

Wishing everyone many meaningful moments of writing and reading

@EmberTong I have the same thoughts as you! It's time to show the world what we are thinking. Yes, me too. I'd like to also read your books as well! I'll go add them to my list if I haven't already.

@AsianStorysketcher Indeed, knowing that the books we write have the potential to touch someone’s life in a positive way is truly inspiring and that’s exactly why I chose to write here in the first place. I’m so happy that you made it to round 3 as well! Looking forward to reading your current and future books!!

@EmberTong I understand your feelings. I also submitted my first work and it made it to round 3 too!

I honestly wanted the exposure more than the awards, but having an award is a bonus. You are right that creating something is a win. Your story exists in tangible form. Your idea exists in tangible form. This is way better and more advantageous than the idea still being in your head.

Yes, we don't stop here. We continue on, and the more we produce, the more chances that someone will see it and like it very much. Like the other day, another writer wrote to me that we never know when we could possibly change someone's life because they read our work.

There are 8 billion people in the world, and you're one of them. You're so kind and special because you're my friend, that's why I'm sending this to you. want good things to happen to you, so read this... Now that you've read the beginning, you can't escape this. You'll get a new phone this year. You'll get the pet of your dreams this Christmas. Everyone will love you. Send this to 15 people in one hour. If you ignore this, you'l have bad luck for the next three years. You'll struggle with grades next year. This isn't fake. A girl ignored this last year, and everything happened to her. You'll forward this to 15 people in one hour. Then, in five days, this will happen... Day 1: You will wake up to a shocking surprise. Day 2: You will meet your old friend again. Day 3: You will earn money. Day 4: Your day will go great. Day 5: Your favorite person will talk to you. Don't break the chain. You have one hour to send this to fifteen people. NO GROUP CHATS. YOU HAVE ONE HOUR. (after you read this)

A little Luminara update ✨

I’m happy to share that Luminara is 50% completed! The first 25% flowed pretty smoothly, but the second half has been a bit trickier—between work, study commitments, and those nasty fever bugs, progress slowed down.

I’m really glad to have made it this far and done my best with it. Not going to lie, there were moments I thought about cutting the story short…but I managed to push through and keep going. Perseverance wins, right?

Also, I just noticed that Ambys Award judging is nearing the end, which has me feeling nervous but excited at the same time!

Once I’ve completed Luminara, I’ll be back to reading, commenting, and voting properly - I really miss connecting with all your stories.

Thanks for sticking with me - can’t wait to share the world of Luminara with you all

          Happy reading and writing!

A small progress update!

I’m about 20% done with Luminara, and it feels like I can make it before my set deadline. YEAH!

Writing this hasn’t been easy—it’s not a style I’m fully confident in or familiar with—but I’m learning as I go and trusting the process.

          Happy reading and writing

@EmberTong keep going! You've got this! I believe in you!

A small update on how I’ll be releasing books moving forward

From now on, I’ll only be publishing completed books, including Luminara (even though two chapters are already out). I realised that releasing chapters bit by bit based on my own pace feels a little stressful for me—and as a reader myself, I know it can break the flow when you get invested and can’t continue because the story isn’t finished yet.

I want my stories to feel more seamless and enjoyable to read, from start to end, without long pauses in between. So while updates might feel quieter for a while, please know that I’m still writing behind the scenes.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I hope this makes the reading experience better for all of us .

          Happy reading and writing!✨

@EmberTong Thank you for sharing and please do what you need to do to feel good about what you're producing for your audience. In the meantime I'll continue reading 31 :)

I’ve just released a one-chapter book titled The Year That Opened Its Hands

This story is my small wish to everyone reading—that 2026 will be kind to you, that it gives you more than it takes, and that you’ll find moments of warmth even on difficult days. I hope this book can sit quietly beside you through both your ups and downs—whether you read it feeling grateful, or needing to feel heard.

Thank you for being here, and for letting my words be part of your journey into the new year.
Wishing you a gentle, hopeful, and beautiful 2026.

          Happy reading ✨

As 2025 comes to an end and we step into 2026, I just want to say a small thank you.

Wattpad has never really been new to me—I’ve been reading here for as long as I can remember, just on a different account. I only started writing in 2025 because I realised I didn’t really have any hobbies… or maybe I just wanted something to do besides the endless cycle of work, rest, work, rest. And honestly? I’m really glad I started.

Writing here helped me meet so many kind and sincere writers. People who put so much time and heart into their own stories, yet still take the effort to read, vote, and comment on others’. That kind of sincerity means a lot to me. I also found genuine joy in writing—finally putting the thoughts in my head into actual stories felt incredibly satisfying, like wow, I actually did this.

If my stories have helped you feel a little less lonely, a little more understood, then that means everything to me.

For 2026, I’m hoping to write more carefree, relaxing stories. I can’t promise mental health themes will disappear completely (they’re kind of part of me), but even if the tone gets lighter, I hope my books continue to bring comfort and positivity to you.

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and wealthy 2026.
          Thank you for being here

          Sincerely,
          Ember Tong

The first chapter of Luminara: A Chronicle of Endless Love is finally out.
I wrote this story quietly, with the hope that it might offer a little warmth, a little light, and a reminder that love can exist in many forms. I hope it finds you gently and stays with you.
