@teavodelzell Here's my quick advice. Your book has 4 chapters and are about 8k each chapter, so that's roughly 32k words. So you are about 1 chapter away from 40k words. That's halfway to what is considered novel sized. Most publishing companies wont even look at a novel unless its over 80k words. How many novels have you read that only have 10 chapters? Probably not too many because they allow for scene changes and they allow the reader a stopping point. Not too many people want to read a quarter of a novel in on sitting. They need breaks. Most large novels have chapters that are 2k to 5k words per chapter. I did a lot of research on this when I started my book because I wasnt sure how long to make each chapter. It will turn a lot of your readers away if they feel like they cant take a break. For your readers that dont need a break, all they have to do is turn to the next chapter. Also, having more chapters on wattpad helps you. If I have 32 chapters and you only have 4, one person can vote for my book 32 time and only 4 for yours. I also get 32 views per person whereas you can only get 4. Also, they are more likely to leave more comments. You limit yourself by making large chapters. Plus its easier to knock out a chapter in a day so you can make regular posts once a week. Doing this will keep your readers coming back. All of this, the votes, comments, views, and regular updates, helps your book in the rankings to where it becomes more noticeable. I can imagine you'd like to get to the point where you arent having to beg people to read your book and you could just focus on writing and posting a chapter a week, while thousands of people read your work. My book started taking off when I took that advice and it could help you as well.
