VANAFIN SAGA:
At the rate I’m going, I may be able to push out two more Vanafin chapters between now and midnight on Monday—that would mean a total of four chapters in the course of one week. That said, I’m not even half way done with rewriting the first book. When I wrote the first draft, the point I’m at now I had once called it a third of the way through. Now, at most, I’d say we are about one-fifth through. I am expanding a lot more, particularly one the subject of Vanafin’s actual relationships with his father and uncles—something the first draft kind of skimmed over in order to move faster. The first draft had about 31 chapters. This rewrote version is looking at, at least, 45 chapters.
THE NIGHT SKY IN THE PALE LIGHT:
The next chapter is going to be delayed. I expect to have it completed by Wednesday evening. The next several chapters of Calëno’s story may be like this. Part of it is that there isn’t much I can find on what happened in Valinor after much of the Noldor left—a lot of missing puzzle pieces. There is also the matter of years; Many refernces have shown Valinor to move at a different speed than the rest of the world. Some spots note about 1 year in Valinor being close to 9.5 years in Beleriand, while others say it is 144 years. While I may go to the 9.5 for the sake of the storyline, I am attempting to line up events so that by the time events like the Second and Third Kinslayings happen in Vanafin, will also be brought to the attention of Calëno in Valinor.
