I constantly lament over the fact that George R.R. Martin has yet to finish writing his final book. 

Frankly, he may die before completing it. Roughly an eternity has passed since the last book was published.

And yet, I sometimes wonder if I shall do  the same with my own works. 
*Shivers* The horror!
