Not everyone is born with social and conflict resolution skills. Not everyone is old enough to understand nuances like learning to disagree and block unwanted content. With the Internet, kids can now easily join fandom spaces like Tumblr.
The only few fandoms I know which aren’t problematic often relate to family-friendly IPs like “Sesame Street”, “Shaun The Sheep” and “Bluey.” Anything with potentially attractive and edgy characters, complex plotlines and post-Tumblr woke anime art style, including the K-pop community, tend to attract toxicity.
