I've always wished I could write a novel but realise it's probably out of the question. 
I am married but am not a parent.
I love to read stories that absorb me as much as I absorb the story. Characters I find it easy to imagine.
I also enjoy people, in all their diversity. Just being a people watcher and listener can be very edifying.
