These broken piano keys 
          And their appalling tune
          Fail to deter the optimist in you
          With a patient touch
          Light as a faded dream
          You close your eyes and play a melody
          
          They reluctantly give way
          With a sound that’s harsh and jarring
          
          But you find reason to stay
          To sweetly convey
          To find the pieces
          That haven’t decayed
          
          Your song I replay
          And one day I may 
          Betray
          Delay
          These feelings that stay 
          
          Until I can say
          I'll willingly give way.
