I started reading way back when I was around 7, and never looked back. Somewhere around the 5th grade, I managed to get sent to the office because the teacher didn't think I was paying attention during the reading portion of class. Tests and stuff eventually proved that is was reading at college level with a vocabulary to match. I read roughly 3 to 5 books a week, on average. Some are re-reads(I can't afford to buy all the books I'd like to read), but I usually manage to find a library or free books to download for my Kindle.
I read nearly anything at hand if bored, but tend to read mostly fantasy, science fiction, horror, and mysteries. I do not read to be a critic - I read for enjoyment, distraction, and curiosity. One of my annoyances when reading though, is discovering an author that can't seem to use a spell-checker. Minor mistakes(except simple word misspellings that aren't typos) don't bother me, but when the word does not match the intent of the paragraph/ sentence - it kinda 'kicks' me out of the 'world' I am reading about. When I read, I literally see a 'movie' in my head of what I'm reading, badly misspelled words or corrections(cut/copy&pates) are kinda like getting slapped in the head with a brick(it has happened once - don't ask). I find it very annoying, and pretty disruptive - when possible I try to inform the author or publisher about the error. Unfortunately, some people seem to take this as an attack on the author. I'm not attacking anyone, just trying to correct a mistake so someone else doesn't get hit with a brick.
