 A way this character Inspired me was; he told me not to drink ocean water.  Now I used to have a terrible ocean water drinking addiction, but... miraculously as I was watching the fourth Ice Age movie (continental drift)- something changed. Sid the sloth, (like {me} many times before), took a giant sip from the ocean and said (and I quote); "That's a little. -Salty." Instantly my worldview was flipped entirely upside down as thoughts of hope pushed- like a resurrected army, encouraging a positive mindset and causing me to realize; "Wow! He makes a good point"! Immediately my addiction was cured. I know it's hard to believe, but I assure you it's true.
