Here lies an author of great renown,
Whose quill hath danced upon the parchment fair,
In verse and prose, he wore the laurel crown,
A master of the English tongue with care.
His tales did weave through tragedy and jest,
With characters that leapt from page to heart,
In sonnets sweet, his love was oft expressed,
And worlds he spun did from his genius start.
Though now he sleeps beneath the silent sod,
His words doth live in hearts and minds afar,
For literature's tapestry, he deftly trod,
A bard whose light shall ever be a star.
Let memory keep his legacy aflame,
And speak his name with honor and acclaim.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem sempiternam
