            * To hide his surprise proved difficult. His hand slid off the handle and settled into his pocket, his whole frame now turned and advanced towards her. Carefully, each step light as a feather against the wooden floor. * they found you? * he asked, a simple inquiry. There was not a hint of accusation. Levi stopped when he was in front of her, his head crooned to the side like a blackbird's * how.

I hate liars. * He told her quietly, sternly yet softly, his hand tightening on the doorknob * tell me what it is, otherwise I have no reason to stay.

[ Dishevelled, frightened beyond his comprehension, the vampire couldn't lay still for long and was upright again - albeit slower this time and with great effort - and leaned his frame against the cushions behind him. He winced, the pain in his abdomen causing his whole body to wither in agony. Hearing the word lycan got a reaction out of him; his head turning towards her and his brows furrowing in confusion. He doesn't remember it, or even the fight if it happened. Despite her claiming she saved his life he was still vary, a distinct air of unease washing over him like cold sweat. The glass of wine was far from it, though akin to the alcohol in color only. The vampire glanced up at her once more, swallowing back the dryness in his throat to attempt speaking again ] why..did you help? What do - you want?

[ air returned to his lungs in ragged gasps, tearing at his insides and causing his mouth to dry even more. In panic he sat up too fast, forcing his wounded body upright and tossing it into more pain that was necessary. The vampire hissed when a single movement of his leg caused pain to shoot up his spine like fire, and fell back into the cushions. It took his dazed eyes a moment to get adjusted to the lighting, his surroundings, and the voice that spoke to him from the room somewhere. Swallowing hard, he allowed his eyes to move and not his body, only for them to land on the figure next to him. When he spoke, his voice carried a cold, cruel edge to them, despite the weakness in tone. ] what did you...

[ Golden foam swirled on top of his beverage, the steam carried the inviting scent of coffee with it, passing above the two of them and reaching high for the ceiling. Inside, a table in the far corner laughed loud about something, another hid whispers between two people in love. He, blessed by nature but cursed by God, could hear every pulse inside the room, and they throbbed against his ears like the gentle flapping of bird's wings before flight. He could hear the one across him, naturally - it was the closest to his own. His heart was weak because it tried to be human, the other's heart was weak because it wished not to be. Blinking, he listened to the other, hand practically melting against his left cheek, other lingering for warmth near the new cup of coffee. For a moment, he bit the inside of his cheek and stayed quiet. He felt the foolishness of his expectations weight and fall on him like cold rain, sink to his bones and drench him to the neck. His eyes lowered to watch the foam still move in his cup like a ship on lazy waves, the darkness of his hair hiding how his irises followed it - manners akin to that of a cat. His fingers wrapped all the way around the mug but he didn't drink, warming his forever cold palm, and keeping his body firm against the coffee table between them he looked almost like a painting. A man lost in thought and unable to find his way out. ]

[ Lucian offered no immediate reply. Instead, his gaze dropped back to the silverware, his expression remaining as unreadable as polished obsidian. He sat in a state of absolute, unnatural stillness—not a single blink, not a stray twitch of a finger. He allowed the silence to stretch between them, thick and heavy, letting the low hum of the cafe fade into white noise. The silence was only broken by the approach of the waitress. As she set down Lucian’s order along with two steaming mugs, he didn't even glance at her. He didn't offer a polite nod or a "thank you"; he simply remained frozen, his eyes fixed on the table until she retreated, clearly unsettled by his clinical aura. Once they were alone again, his eyes flickered upward, the movement sharp and mechanical, locking onto Levi’s green ones with a gaze that felt like a physical weight. ] " I don't 'search' for company, Levi. And I didn't need to see you through the glass to know exactly where you sat. " [ He leaned back slowly, his spine remaining perfectly straight, the leather of his chair creaking under the stiff, precise shift of his weight. A faint, cold light entered the depths of his pupils—not a softening of his features, but the chilling spark of a marksman recognizing a target. The skin at the corners of his eyes tightened just a fraction, a ghost of a mocking edge appearing in his stare as he ignored the fresh food in favor of his "prey." ] " The condensation on a window doesn't mask the frantic rhythm of a heartbeat, nor the specific way the air pressure shifts when someone is trying far too hard to be 'unseen.' You radiate intent like a flare in a pitch-black room. To a man of my profession, you weren't hidden behind fogged glass; you were a glowing silhouette. "

[ He tilted his head just enough to see what the other was up to. The slight tilt of the fork and knife made his brows furrow in a curious manner, gaze lifting just in time to catch the tail end of his jaw locking tight. A human being, behaving more like a robot with a beating heart than anything else. A small hum vibrated deep from within the vampire, his wrist now in a lazy fist, supporting his head upright. Briefly did his lips curl up in a smile when the other proposed two options. ] "That is up for them to go through, and for you to find out." [ He replied in a voice smooth as silk. Nursing the ends of his coffee, the waitress came over finally with the man's dish and two cups. Allowing her to clean up the table, he kept his gaze locked on his company, a tail end of a mischievous smile lingering on his lips. Once left alone with him, he spoke again. ] "I'm curious...how did you see me here?" [ Green eyes flickered over the cafe, rhen to the foggy window and streets packed with cars. ] "A small, humid place. The windows are foggy so you couldn't have possibly seen me. Did you come here too, searching for company?"

[ The world fell into a deafening silence, as if death swept her cloak over every breathing thing. He couldn't feel a heart beat anywhere anymore, he couldn't even feel his own - mistaking the short, angry thumping from the other side of the blade as his blood pushing through his veins. The tip of the knife trembles, the hand below his own seemed to go lax around the weapon. Far from weakness, he knew that. It was more a final breath of energy before the body goes cold. Despite his nature, the other had found in him a cold shelter, even if momentarily - the quiet, hollow body of his would prove enough of a hideout for a brief moment, a beat, a single breath. His hand doesn't falter on the blade, his other arm continues to rest on his side. Allowing the other to sink in, he does nothing but stand tall for both of them. Silence hummed her sad song till the vampire spoke, in a voice so solemn it could be mistaken for human. ] "..because I am not you. [ He sighs, forcing out words despite the energy it took to push them out. ] "...humans, despite what you may think, are individuals. Always. You may form a community, be born into a family, have your own even.." [ His hand shook now, but he lifted it from his side, and rested it on the nape of the other's neck, his coldness melting against the heat of the other's body. ] "But in the end it is always you alone, in your body. That is your blessing and a curse in one."

[ The phantom screams in his head reach a deafening pitch, making his grip on the dagger stutter. He looks at the hand resting over his own—a touch that should be a threat, yet feels like an anchor. Lucian’s breath hitches, coming out in a ragged, broken shudder. The "hawk’s gaze" cracks, revealing eyes that are wide, bloodshot, and drowning in a thousand-yard stare. ] " You speak as if... as if the world ever stays bright." [ He whispers, his voice cracking like dry parchment. He doesn't pull the knife away, but the lethal intent has vanished, replaced by a desperate, trembling fatigue. ] " The shadows don't just wait for me to blink. They live behind my eyelids. Every time I close them, I'm back in the blood... back in the cold. " [ He leans his forehead forward until it almost touches the vampire’s chest , his energy spent. ] " If you aren't a lie... then why does it still feel like I'm screaming alone ? "

[ The end of the dagger felt inviting in its coldness. Such icy presence he was familiar with, of course; it was hard to get away from, hard to resist. Each scratch, each stab, revealed to him that blood still pumped in his veins despite him not feeling it, that he too breathes and gasps when hurt. Yet, the end of such vengeful knife felt differently. Something in his animalistic gaze softened. The knife pierced his flesh because he let it to, leaning into it with a small breath out. It barely missed his Adam's apple. Does a sacrificial lamb get more empathy if it gives in? Is wolf still a wolf with his tail lowered? His cold hand rested over the one that gripped the knife, not to move it away, but to encourage it to stab further if it so wished. ] "Because you have blinked before, and not once have I hurt you when the world went dark." [ He replied quietly, tilting his head down so their eyes meet. ] "No more lies, Lucian. Not from me."

[ He shut his eyes tight for a moment, the buzz in his ears dropping down in volume till it finally disappeared all together, and the first thing he heard was the other's voice. Levi exhaled, when his eyes opened colors flew in his vision akin to a kaleidoscope, vibrant and strong enough to force him to gather himself before trying to focus his eyes again. The touch of the other made him wince, and turn his head away from his hand in a heartbeat. The vampire straightened his back and felt his mouth, leaving behind stained fingertips and an annoyed scoff. He spared the assassin one more look before looking around. His dark brows narrowed, and his gaze fell on Lucian again. ] "Where." [ His voice was raspy still, strained - like that of a man that has been yelling for hours. ]

[ Lucian doesn’t flinch as the fangs pierce his throat. Instead, his head lolls back against the headrest of the chair, a low, smooth hum of vibration resonating in his chest—not from pain, but from a dark, visceral sort of satisfaction. He lets the vampire drink, his pulse remaining rhythmically steady even as his life force is siphoned away. When Levi finally pulls back, whispering his hollow threat, Lucian doesn't move to cover the wound. He lets the blood sluggishly track down his collar, a crimson badge of his "generosity." Slowly, Lucian turns his head to look at Levi. His eyes are dark, heavy-lidded, and dancing with a mocking light. A slow, languid smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth. ] " Such fierce words for someone who just took charity from my veins, Levi. " [ He reaches up, unbothered by the mess, and wipes a stray droplet of blood from Levi's lower lip with the pad of his thumb. He applies just enough pressure to be a reminder of who is still in control before pulling his hand away. ] " Threaten me again when you aren’t shivering from the high of my blood. [ He felt his heartbeat go numb. It is false in nature, it mimics what it hears and yet he could feel the blood slowly curdle into itself as the heart slowly began to lose energy to keep it flowing. A ragged breath escaped him, and he bit his tongue down hard to stop another. Being denied something that sat right in front of him was purgatory. The touch to his hair caused his whole being to tremble, shiver from an unknown cold, his eyes sharp and demanding below the paleness of the other's hand. The man was tormenting him, openly pointing out how desperate and weak the vampire was and yet - that meek part of him, that hunted, betrayed nature- wanted to lean into the touch and sink in completely. Swallowing down hard, he cursed in his mother tongue, pressing his foot onto the floor to get up. Gently, as gently as he could, he took hold of the hand that touched him and moved it aside, pressing his free wrist against the back of Lucian's chair. ] "You anger me on so many levels." [ The vampire whispered, losing his voice along with his energy. Taking hold of the man's chin he tilted it more to the side, his slender frame breaking the proximity between them like thin ice. ] "Speak of this.. you'll die." [ Final warning, and his teeth found his flesh, sinking them in with practiced precision. The chair croaked, the weight of two was unfamiliar to the leather cushions, and the ends of the vampire's fingers sunk hard into the backrest above them. If it were someone else, he would've drained the body whole. Even now it seemed hard to stop the hunger, his jaw holding onto the other's neck like a snake that won't let go of flesh, the blood thick and warm gave his body life again - if not something life, then something in likeness to it. His hold loosened on the leather, and he retracted his teeth with a small sigh, moving his bloodied mouth from the mess on his neck. ]
