The Onibi Series lore:
- A family kidnaps and kills Akari (from a different clan) because some noblemen were getting bored of their usual performances and paid them to make it more “interesting.” Akari curses her killers so their descendants will become cannibals.
- Years later, the murderers have a daughter called Mai. On her 18th birthday she gets kidnapped by Akari's relatives and force-fed human flesh, invoking the curse (Akari's clan was very spiritual and connected to the Gods, that is why the curse worked.) After she is rescued, she eats servants/people one by one until she kills her parents. She also meets Akari's ghost and they fall in love.
- Shikyou, a goddess/demon/some kind of deity, is furious because they were never supposed to meet. She already has a grudge against Mai and her clan for preaching atheism.
- There is another deity called Emi (she does not appear in the music vids though) who is a dollmaker. It is implied that she arranged the meeting between Akari and Mai, then did *something* to ruin Akari's plans. This pisses EVERYONE off. Akari gouges out her eye in revenge but Emi does not really seem to care.
- Mai roams the land eating and killing more people. The Beautiful Shadow implies that Akari does not have a grudge against her anymore but I do not really know. Mai is eventually caught and beheaded by Shikyou herself, imagining a peaceful life with Akari as she dies.
- There is another song part of the Onibi Series called "Star Lily Performance) which shows the Mai's imagination of her and Akari's peaceful life.
- From here, the series focuses on other characters. There's a younger cousin in Mai's family called Kaori, who is driven to kill animals and her mother by the curse. Her fate is pretty vague but it is implied that she gets executed.
- There is a "side-story" about a possessed doll who kills her cruel owner. It's implied that the doll's spirit is related to Akari because it sings some of her lines from other songs.
