Does anybody remember the name of this book? And or the author?
Here’s what I remember about the plot:
- Set in New York
- The male main character grandma owns a diner
- The female main character relative dies in front of that diner and male characters grandma witnessed it
- The female character lives with her evil aunt and cousins , they treat her terribly
- The two main characters officially meet in the diner , the grandma introduces them
- Eventually, the evil aunt mysteriously dies
- The two main characters move in together with a dog but female character goes to college in Virginia
- Male character meets females bio mom but doesn’t tell her because it’s dangerous
