I think the most concerning thing I've seen, both online and in person, concerning the Will Smith and Chris Rock situation is that people don't know the difference between what they would've done and what they should've done. People are saying that they would have reacted the same way or worse, so it makes what he did okay. Which is just completely wrong. We all should logically know that assaulting someone for a joke, whether it was in bad taste or not, is not right. In that same sentence we can acknowledge that we might not have, or probably wouldn't have, done the right thing, but that doesn't change the fact that assaulting someone is the wrong thing to do and is not okay.
