Seems like a well-rounded plot!

They both think what they're doing is good. Jaxx is trying to get the sword, and to do that he'd need to get it off of Alex, who is trying to save the world with it.

Is Jaxx evil evil? I get he's a bad guy, but does he do what he does to hurt people, does Alex do the same without realizing? Do they both think what they're doing is unfair and shouldn't be happening or do they both think that it's correct and they're the good guys

That's really good, and very detailed! Most of the death scenes you see in those kinds of books are like "Lights body, which was now placed on his door, was covered in rose blood which had turned his purple top red."
