@DylanObrienwife101  I feel like 4000 words is a lot because typically, for me, a scene can be about 2000 - 3000 words. when you have as many as 4000, you might be forced to put two scenes in a chapter to reach your desired word count. For starting out, I suggest 1000 words because it's easier to work with shorter scenes. It reduces need for long dialogues, unnecessary conversations and over describing setting in the need for a large number of words. 
            
            I was just checking in with my followers and I really liked this question. I'm an amateur writer though but that's my personal opinion from what I've experienced in my writing.

From my experience, I think chapters should be between 2,000 - 5,000 no more than 10,000 because sometimes not everyone has time to read all that…lol…but there is times where the thoughts and ideas are just flowing out of my fingers and I end up with chapters being almost 10,000 words which is also okay! 
            
            But to keep readers engaged and not overdo the chapter, I suggest 2,000-4,000 words
