You can make Annabeth see some scenes of Ophelia that she doesn't like, but she doesn't say anything because she is aware that Ophelia didn't ask to be that kind of person and that the circumstances she went through led her to be that way. Annabeth tries to be understanding and not judge her, but she has a hard time keeping quiet.
What Athena's daughter doesn't know is that Percy has seen Annabeth's critical look at her mother's actions and he didn't like that. Percy vows that, if Annabeth says anything bad about her mother, he will have a long talk with her, as it's not fair for Annabeth to be like that to her mother after all that Ophelia and Percy have done for Annabeth.
And, when a scene arrives that Annabeth doesn't like at all, the daughter of the goddess of wisdom begins to judge Ophelia, which angers many, including Percy, and causes Ophelia to shed tears. As a result, she leaves the room to calm down.
When Annabeth realizes what she has said, she regrets it, but it was too late, because everyone was looking at her wrong and angry, and she was even surprised to see the anger, disappointment and sadness in her boyfriend's eyes, as it was the first time she saw Percy look at her like that.
Percy stands up and confronts his girlfriend, and also starts defending his mother. He even tells Annabeth that Ophelia is better than Athena herself. Then, Percy asks her if in his mother's movies she would be like that with his mother. Then, he himself should not be with a person who thinks and speaks ill of his mother.
Annabeth is surprised to hear this and begs him to give her a chance, but Percy, hurt and angry, tells her that he can tolerate and forgive many things, but that what Annabeth did to his mother was overstepping boundaries.
And that he will always put his mother before Annabeth herself, because Ophelia sacrificed and did many things for Percy.
