I am 70% the way thru writing a trilogy about the Scottish Highlands in the 1600's, following the life of a young woman, Annis, who - following the murder of her mother - become Queen of the West. She struggles with self belief and feels daunted by the shadow cast by her glorious mother, Cydara. Annis worships her ancient hero, Kiffan the Defiant, who resisted the Viking invasion of Scotland.
