@ForeverSmile413 Haha. I understand. I winged mine at first too. 
          
          Some outlines and notes should help you out a lot. I briefly outline everything plot-wise that I have figured out and take notes on everything new I think of, even if it's something small or something that won't show up in the actual writing of the story. Keeping notes about everything involving your characters is more helpful than it might seem. I recommend it, even if the thing you realize is something as simple as "so-and-so likes marshmallows in his coffee" or "this is what happened in this character's past even though they are a side character that only shows up for a very brief period." 
          
          I believe that as the author you tend to know more about your story and characters than a reader may ever know. But even if some of those things never show up in the story, it helps you have a grip on your characters and how the story plays out. All of it makes the story more solid and natural. Of course there may be some things you take note of that you decide aren't true later. But that happens in editing as well. Haha.
