I think that any stories that are considered “reader” should allow the actual reader to determine skin color because it just ruins my mood whenever I see “pale skin” “straight hair” or “blue eyes” knowing that I’m black . While I’m on the topic of my ethnicity, something that kind of makes me feel not black is when I go to a black reader story and it’s full of AAVE. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I don’t use it as much as others might or as much as the character might in the story, it just makes a disconnect between the character and I. I’m not telling anyone to start writing stories to my preferences when it comes to stories that are specifically for black readers, but it’s making me want to write my own and I would honestly do so if I wasn’t so unmotivated . Well anyway thank you for reading my rant
