@Corporal_LeBeau Oh, that's good to know. And yeah, people definitely need to get over that. There was so much more to Bob than just his personal struggles. For example, he brought as many HH castmates with him as he could when filming "The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz", all because he wanted to make sure they had work during the break between season 5 and season 6. Highly recommend that movie, btw - it's hilarious.) He was just an all-around nice guy.

Oh, no way? That's so cool!

No worries, I do too lol. My least favorite? Hm, that's a hard one. It's a tie between Captain Morgan from Everybody Loves A Snowman - or as my friend calls it, "Everybody Loves Peter Newkirk in a Tank Top" - and Jack Williams from "One in Every Crowd". I can't stand traitors...and seeing Williams get punched out by Newkirk made my whole day! As for morgan, the way he addressed Hogan when the team was trying their best to help him despite the circumstances just rubbed me the wrong way. Especially with how disrespectful he was about it. Like sir, Hogan is a full colonel, and you are a captain. You will address him as COLONEL Hogan, not just by his last name!

Aw, you don't like those two? I love both of them. (Yes, I'm aware I'm in the minority here.) The way Marya just gives Hogan constant headaches never fails to entertain me. She's literally a female version of him! As for Crittendon, he's trying his best. I hc he's only pretending to be an idiot so nobody pays much attention to him. I have the same hc about Klink If nothing else, you don't get to be the rank those two are by being an idiot.

The last book is a biography of Bob Crane written by Carol Ford and two other fans of the show called "Bob Crane: The Definitive Biography". It took them well over a decade to get it written. There's over 200 first-hand accounts of people who personally knew Bob Crane, from his early childhood all way up to the end of his life. It's the only biography of him that Scott Crane (his youngest son) endorses. All proceeds are donated to various charities in Bob's name. The hardback version has the most pictures, the softback has a little less and the electronic version has no pictures at all. Now me personally, I bought the book on Kindle to read and it hardback so I could see all the pictures. From what I can tell, every other biography out there either focuses mainly on his murder and sex addiction, or outright makes some stuff up.

While we're on the subject of things being made up, please, PLEASE don't ever pay any money whatsoever to watch the movie "Auto Focus". The director outright admitted he added things that weren't true to make the film "more sensational"...but yet he still had the nerve to call it a biography. Like I'm sorry, but when you start adding things that aren't true, that's no longer an accurate term. If you absolutely HAVE to watch the movie, kindly either borrow it from somebody or torrent it. That's what I did. I may or may not ever watch it, but I'll be damned if I was gonna give Sony one red cent for spreading lies!

Sorry, I got a little triggered there. Carry on XD

You might be, but I like Carter too. He's the only (non-German) character who really even attempts a good German accent. Yeah, I've seen those interviews too. But yes, you probably will be sad. I've binge-watched the entire series in a week and I regret it now; you only get to watch something for the first time once. Should have taken the time to savor the show. That's okay, you'll join the rest of us who do the exact same thing lol. Just distract yourself by making gifs, taking screen caps, writing fanfic or finding pictures of your favorite characters and sharing them on Tumblr. (Or all of the above.) The thing about Bob Crane is that in reality, he could do a good German accent. But he was asked to do a bad one on purpose to add to the comedy.

By the way, there's three books you might be interested in if you have the funds. One is called "Hogan's Heroes: Behind the Scenes at Stalag 13" & it's by Brenda Joyce. It's been out of print for a while, but Amazon occasionally has a copy in stock. (They also have it available on Kindle.) As a bonus, there's also an episode guide at the end of the book. Next is Robert Clary's autobiography called "From the Holocaust to Hogan's Heroes".

@Corporal_LeBeau No, it definitely is. They also seem to be a lot meaner to Carter. In universe, I'm sure tensions were just high because the war was coming to a close and the Heroes were stressed out, but in real life, I think it's because the cast was getting tired of playing the same characters for 6 years. Like, Bob Crane didn't even attempt to do a German accent by that point...and he did in earlier seasons. That's probably one of the reasons HH got caught up in the stupid 'rural purge' CBS did. Forever mad at them for that, btw

Frau_Wilhelm_Klink

@Corporal_LeBeau Cool! Absolutely mood, I'm the same way. I don't know the phrase "short and sweet" when it comes to writing...as you've no doubt seen I look forward to seeing your fanfic whenever it's done. No rush, tho! And yes, you absolutely could. I don't know how much traffic they would get, but it's worth a shot. Have a great day! :)

@Corporal_LeBeau Agreed. Have fun in the fandom - it's not the biggest place, but it's a pretty welcoming community. I'm sure you'll have a ball on Tumblr if you follow the Hogan's Heroes tag. A user by the handle of benevolenterrancy has drawn quite a bit of fan art for the show, and she's really talented! If you want discourse, opinions - and the occasional rant - whatisthismandoinghere has plenty of those on their blog. Those are just two people I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun with just those two alone. :)
