Scientists discovered a new mutation in the human genome that was unlike anything they'd seen before. The entirety of human physiology seems to lean on the status of this chromosome. Everything we know about humans, mutation, and life itself turned on its head when Ulani first appeared.
CAK ulani gifts young adults with this unique gene mutation that develops abilities that extend beyond natural human capabilities. From telekinesis and telepathy to controlling water with your mind, ulani makes it happen.
The abilities manifested by the mutation are most commonly classified by elements. it quickly became apparent that four classes wouldn't even begin to contain the full scope of what CAK ulani does, so researchers at the Chimera Institute of science took it upon themselves to research these mutations and classify them.
They hunted down them and convinced them to join the study, saying it would be great.
However, 18 years have passed now and ulani mutations have only gotten worse. Dozens of other facilities like Chimera have cropped up around America and other countries have begun to follow suit, lodging mutants in prison-like structure under watch and guard all day and night, studying them and categorizing them.
These facilities have only gotten worse, leaving behind their original plan for a much worse one, weaponization. Chimera and companies like it want to weaponize these mutants to wage our wars for us, so they train them. Day in and out, the children inside are pushed to their breaking point. Sometimes, even to death. In harsh conditions, mutants push their powers past the limit while coldhearted scientists jot down their pain with blanked faces and dead eyes.
They're so tired. They have to get out.
