Telos Rising Sneak Peek:
Jesse was surrounded by the towering silver giants. The screams of the converted victims continued to ring out through the chamber as the machinery torn through their flesh and the cybernetic replacements were implanted. Jesse could only imagine the horrifying agony they must be going though. He shielded the crying baby from the Cybermen. “Please don’t do this to her. She’s not even old enough to become one of you.” He desperately pleaded. “We will find a use for her.” A Cyberman responded as it motioned towards one of the Cybermats skirting across the floor. The realization gut punched Jesse. “Those are converted babies?” his voice cracked at the revelation. “Correct.” The emotionless robot responded. Jesse screamed in horror. He fought back warm tears. “Don’t do this to her! Do whatever you want with me, but let her go! Deal?” he offered in vain. “You do not have leverage over us.” The Cyberman noted. “Oh yes, I do.” Jesse hissed. “What do you have?” the cyborg inquired. “My life. If you lose me, there goes a potential soldier to add to your ranks. Your population is limited enough, already. And there is a very slim chance that you will make it out of this tomb. You’re going to need all the help you can get.” Jesse explained with a tone of newfound determination. “You cannot take your life. You have no means of doing so.” The Cyberman commented. “I’ll make you kill me.” Jesse shot back. “The baby would be left to us to convert.” The Cyberman seemed to taunt Jesse despite its lack of emotion. Jesse pondered the Cyberman’s retort. He then stared at the horde of Cybermen. “I don’t care what I have to do. I’ll find a way. Even if I have to kill you all with my bare hands, but you monsters are not going to take this baby.” He snarled. “You shall be converted.” The Cybermen chanted in unison as they marched towards Jesse and Annalise. Jesse’s defiant look melted into a look of horror and desperation as he realized that all hope was lost.
