I am still working on my other novel making corrections requested by an agent. I should turn that over to my editor by Labor Day. I will then resubmit the manuscript by 10/1. Then I will turn my attention back to this story. The difficulty with this story is going to be writing it in parallel. I've never done that so I'm going to have to research how best to do this. I plan to have the events unfold during the Revolutionary war and then parallel what happens then with the two historians in present time make the different discoveries as they unearth a well-hidden story. The real life story about Robert Erskine, George Washington's secret agent was uncovered by Princeton in the 50s or 60s and it is wrapped up in the Benedict Arnold betrayal of West Point. It happened locally here in New Jersey and capturing the British spy led to his dramatic hanging in Old Tappan. On the day of his execution, Washington traveled to Erskine's death bed, he was that close of a friend. I do think this is a story that must be told and I hope to do it in a way that is interesting, exciting, informative and, above all, fun to read.
