Sending this here because of the length. Nothing that happens in MSA changes the outcome of Merli. From the end of MSA there are 3 years until the reunion party, more than enough time for Bruno and Pol to do their thing. Per Yo, Pol Rubio, they don't start dating until after graduation:
"Bruno Bergeron and I are dating, and we have lived together for a year. We took the plunge after graduation."
MSA was planned for 3 seasons, which I would thematically define as conflict, growth, and reunion.
Act 1 established conflict between Bruno and Pol and a need for them to go their separate ways to break the toxic cycle they're trapped in. They need time apart to live, learn, mature, and gain perspective. Bruno sacrificed too much of himself for Pol and he needs to take that power back. Pol needs time to explore his new world and to figure himself out without that constant pressure from Bruno. They need to be there as friends without the expectation more.
Act 2 is about the boys doing their thing to grow up and mature. Lozano clearly chose HIV and Axel as the means for Pol. I hated these for different reasons, but they serve a purpose. I think he could have done far better story wise. HIV forces him to pause and check his behavior. Axel gives him a cover to stabilize emotionally and learn that he CAN be in a long term relationship with be with a man. Both are important. The glaring flaw with the second act is the absence of Bruno. He didn't need to be front and center at this point in the story, but he needed to be present. The audience deserved to also see his growth and maturity - with an eye toward the third act, reunion. Seeing Bruno at school, with his friends, with his new family, with his flings or maybe a good though not great relationship. All would have been interesting to see. Then you have the occasional interactions with Pol that fires that tiny blast of jealousy for each and the reminder of that the spark each is missing with their current partners.

@oskirkland Mas até então a Movistar não havia se decidido pelo cancelamento, então o Lozano com o Menna, decidiram filmar aquele flashforward, com a formatura do Pol... E aquela cena que ele dança, enquanto pinta um apartamento, uma sequência descrita no livro, pediram uma mínima participação do David, na qual ele, na minha opinião corretamente não aceitou...uma cena avulsa, solta, que poderia ou não entrar na série, a depender da decisão da Movistar...se eles optassem pela renovação de uma terceira temporada, a segunda temporada terminaria eu acho no banquete, talvez eles cortasse aquela declaração cafona a lá Romeu e Julieta do Pol para o Axel... Movistar optou pelo cancelamento, introduziram o flashforward e finalizaram a série...

@oskirkland Juntando todas essas polêmicas, o advento da COVID, que deixou as produções mais caras, difíceis e com prazos mais complicados, dificultou as divulgações, e a questão que ficou subentendida, que para haver Brunol, eles teriam que negociar com o David, talvez ter que acatar alguns termos deste ( eles a equipe de Lozano, não a Movistar)...a terceira temporada, foi se inviabilizando...

@oskirkland No que dá para entender nas entrevistas, o Lozano ficou sabendo da possibilidade do cancelamento, mais ou menos na finalização da temporada. A Movistar deve ter visto aquele material, toda polêmica com o David se afastando da série ( porque eu tenho quase certeza que a Movistar " comprou" um Brunol, ela sabia que era nele, que estava o interesse do público da série... inclusive foi citado em uma entrevista, antes da primeira temporada)...enfim houve também a polêmica envolvendo o veterano, talentoso carismático, ator catalão Pep Cruz, que foi convidado a participar da série, provavelmente no papel do Dino, e declinou do convite publicamente, expondo que o salário pago pela produtora Veranda, responsável pela série, era muito pouco, segundo ele uma ofensa para os atores...ele havia a pouco feito uma série para Movistar, chamada La linea invisível, onde ele teve , por menos trabalho, o dobro do salário.... então a produtora Veranda, que paga mal aos profissionais
