"I saw the meteor
dug into your garden
where your apricot tree survived-
the soil around cracked up to your feet,
your tears parted the grass.
It seemed the world
between us was collapsing,
your hands can't stop me,
neither could a bullet.
Above us,
our skies were clouded yet lit up
with fire and lightning.
I tried to run for you
though time felt as if I were
running in water.
Each slow hit of a foot,
another grenade of dirt
exploded.
You're frozen.
You're crying.
I hear it coming down in hailstorm."
