Though she spent many hours of her childhood writing stories, Glenda Goertzen initially pursued a degree in film and video. She hoped to become a TV animation artist, but instead found herself wandering through a wide variety of multi-media positions, including producer and writer of a children’s program. Suddenly overwhelmed by a desire to be surrounded by books rather than TV screens, she returned to school to become a library technician. Shortly after launching into her library career, her first novel was published. The Prairie Dogs, illustrated by Governor General Award winner Philippe Beha, was followed by City Dogs, illustrated by Peter Hudecki (a TV animation artist!) and Miracle Dogs, illustrated by the author.
