Hey… I get that “Typical wattpad main character” is the go-to insult when people see a female lead with insecurities or softness, but Eva isn’t a trope—she’s a reflection.
Social anxiety isn’t a quirky trait or a placeholder for personality. It’s a disorder that rewires your entire experience of the world. The overthinking, the self-doubt, the spirals—they’re not dramatics. They’re symptoms.
Eva’s journey isn’t about falling for the “bad boy.” It’s about regaining agency in a world that profits from taking it. Yes, she struggles. She’s allowed to. Strength doesn’t always look like guns blazing or sass-for-days dialogue. Sometimes it looks like someone surviving the night in their own skin.
This isn’t a story about a girl becoming “edgy” to survive. It’s about a girl reclaiming her space without having to change who she is to deserve it.
If you read her and saw “typical,” maybe it says more about how female vulnerability is constantly dismissed than it does about the story itself.

@GoldenNightingal2 Hey, thank you for saying that—I really appreciate it. I’ll be honest, I thought it was shade at first so I probably got a little defensive. That’s on me. I’ve just put so much of myself into this story (maybe too much, lol) that sometimes it’s hard to separate feedback from feeling exposed, you know? But reading your follow-up, I completely get that it wasn’t meant to be an insult. We all come across characters or tropes differently depending on what we’ve seen before. And honestly? I really do appreciate you taking the time to read it and give your thoughts. That means a lot. Also, I’ve been checking out your work too and your writing’s strong as hell. You’ve got a real voice, and it’s clear you care about your craft. So if I came across as petty or cold, I truly didn’t mean to.
