I clawed my way out of the social scene years before social distancing was a thing; some say I was kicked out, depends on who you ask. I used to dabble in the dark side but now I dabble in photography and naturalism. One thing remains the same; they both lead to strange places.  My life is a, non-linear, starkly contrasting, never-ending compilation of strange coincidences. I woke up one morning in a house full of people I didn't recognize, in a place I wasn't familiar with, and for reasons I'll never know. But when I found a camera and entered the wild, things truly got strange. I became a birder. What follows are the true tales of a reformed party-goer turned unexpected birder.  Tales long and short, deep and shallow, important and trivial, experienced and transcribed to the great tome of my life. Every tale has added another piece to my puzzle, that great shattered mosaic. I've never seen it complete and so far, the picture forming in the mirror and in my heart and in my soul, has been the strangest thing of all. Welcome to my Insight. Welcome to Birding.
