Well the book, the og version, is really cool too, if not cooler lol.
Connor Murphy was actually bi!
A direct quote from Book Connor to confirm this:

This is in the chapter where MORE queerness is introduced as well, it’s like a massive bomb.
He had this friend named Miguel that was “The first person he’d known who was openly and proudly gay.” Direct quote again. This was in the same paragraph as the last thing, I mind you, it’s page 234 if you wanna read it for yourself.
Connor is portrayed as having feelings for Miguel in some way, though their relationship is complicated and they never get together. Miguel seems to be some of the reason Connor wanted to die.
