I am an artist--a young, aspiring writer and illustrator who loves tragedies and spiders (namely my tarantula, Charlotte). I live comfortably in Alaska, and I prefer fall and winter over summer, to be quite honest. 

In my opinion, the purpose of any kind of art is to evoke emotion. The reader, viewer, listener, etc. must feel something as they read, look at, or listen. They must, in that single moment, feel completely and utterly alive. That, I believe, is true art.
