Around 4 years ago I started writing books, starting with Feral. I now have written 4 more complete books since then each of which I feel has gotten better over time. That being said, I’ve hit a block in writing. I’d say it got particularly bad after finishing Mask but these recent books have quite literally been some of the hardest I’ve written just due to a lack of motivation and feeling stuck if that makes any sense. I’m sure this is partially because I’ve really been writing in the same universe so far and all my characters are werewolves and while I’m not saying I won’t continue writing werewolves, I am saying that I’m taking a break from them for the time being.
I know the majority of my audience are large werewolf fans and I do hope you’ll stay for other books I write, but I feel like it’s time to branch out a bit and write different types of stories (human, vampire, gargoyle, etc.). Of course, I can’t make anyone stick around but I’d much rather focus my attention on a new type of story rather than staring at the same 200 words for hours on end, trying to bring myself to want to write it. When I first started writing, it was a fun hobby and I loved reading all the comments about characters I wrote. I felt that same feeling with Mask (and toward the end of BAC) but lately, this hasn’t been the case. Instead, I can literally sit for hours thinking of other books I’d want to write or working on covers for books that will likely never be published while trying to work myself up just to write.
I’ve always loved writing so to try and mend my relationship with it, I’m going to take a step back from the Feral universe for now.
That’s the end of my ted talk. I look forward to sharing other works with you guys and hope you’ll stick around to read and comment on them. ❤️
